Wichmann Sprints To First Win of Season in Holland

San Luis Obispo, CA, 4 September 2008 - Columbia’s Anke Wichmann clinched her first win of the season  when she out-sprinted fellow German Sarah Düster at the end of stage three of the Holland Ladies Tour.

The two were part of a earlier six-rider break, but Wichmann and Duster used a cobbled section eight kilometres from the finish at Roden to go clear and fight it out for the day’s victory.

“I’m surprised but very pleased because normally I’m just a team worker and I’m not up there with the winners at the finish, I’ve done my job before then.” Wichmann pointed out.

Greipel Wins Stage Four of Deutschland Tour Whilst Teutenberg Takes Holland Ladies Tour Opener

San Luis Obispo, CA, 2 September, 2008 - Stage four of the Tour of Germany on Tuesday saw Columbia fastman Andre Greipel outgun Australian Robbie McEwen and German Robert Forster for his twelfth victory of the season. A bunch sprint on the stage from Wiesloch to Mainz only became a certainty with six kilometres to go when Frenchman Thomas Voeckler was reeled in - but Greipel was ready to pounce.

“I can’t say I was too surprised I managed to win because we’ve got the strongest team here and I’ve got such strong support as a result.” Greipel said afterwards.  “But it wasn’t the most straightforward to victories. I had a bit of a rough time with a kilometre to go, there were guys all over the place trying to get through and I nearly crashed.”
Schmölln, Germany, 26 July 2008 - Columbia's Judith Arndt placed third in Saturday's penultimate stage of Thuringen Rundfahrt moving herself into the overall race lead with one stage remaining.

Twelve cities around the Show Me State have been selected as Start or Finish cities for the second edition of the Tour of Missouri, an elite, point-to-point cycling stage race to be held September 8-14, 2008.
The second Tour of Missouri has been extended from six to seven days after an extremely successful inaugural event in 2007, and will showcase some of the state’s most beautiful roads and rolling terrain, rich history, and diverse scenery, from the start in St. Joseph, site of the Pony Express, to Kansas City, to the Ozarks, to the bourgeoning wine country, culminating with a blockbuster weekend again with stops in historic St. Charles and the ultimate finish in St. Louis with the Gateway Arch as a backdrop.

October 11th @ 5PM ET

The climbers can celebrate. A return to the gruelling Angliru, a very tough day in the Pyrenees, an uphill time trial, a total of five summit finishes and just 40 kilometres of flat time trial for the specialists against the clock; this is, in truth, a Vuelta tailor-made for those who shine when it comes to battling with gravity. Starting in Granada on August 30th and concluding in Madrid 23 days and 3169 kilometres later, the Grand Tour will be fought on uphill terrain and should see some epic tussles by the mountain riders in the battle for the final maillot oro.

October 12th @ 4PM ET

Paris-Tours, a race which covers over 250 k in one day,is the last prestigious race on the cycling calendar.

October 19th @ 4PM ET

The last classic of the season and the final race of the UCI Pro Tour, the Giro di Lombardia, "the race of the falling leaves" will take place for the one hundredth time this year in Italy.  With some moderate climbing, it is no surprise that a climber can find success in this one day race, but the rest of the peleton cannot be counted out, because anything can happen on the way to the finish at Como.

November 9th @ 4PM ET

In less than 20 years, the Tour du Faso has become the greatest professional race in Africa, reflecting the vitality of its creators. Debuting in 1987, the event features 11 race stages, one rest day 1305.5km and six riders per team. The Tour is widening its horizons and innovating, a proof of its vitality.
